“I have read you need an internet connection to setup the eero. After it is setup, and the internet is down, can I still share files on my local lan? If I take my eero to friends house ( without internet), can we still share files for lan party?”

If the eero are already on when the Internet goes out they will continue to work for a LAN unless you unplug them. The eero won’t work from turning on with no internet available because they want to do a sanity check against eero service and do some security things to make sure they aren’t being breached so you wouldn’t be able to take them to a friends with no internet unless you did give it internet first and THEN disconnected the internet.

So just the usual cell service. 2) Yes, if your internet is down due to ISP, etc., then your LAN still works. You can share files etc. 3) Yes, LAN works without internet. Though some of the features (changing settings, profiles, etc) that you access from your smart phone app, won't work without internet connection.
