- Answer I'm not an expert by any means. However I recently replaced all of the smaller eero rental routers from Hotwire (we had 5 of them) with the Pro 6E Tri-Band Mesh wifi routers that we purchased from Best Buy. They were very easy to install and we now have a stronger system in our home. Note we needed a stronger system due to outdoor landscaping lights that are wifi driven as well as cameras, etc. Some of the lights are 50'+ from the house so we needed a good reach. And...yes you can just plug a new eero router into a power outlet and it should synch up.

QuestionSo this has a 2.5 gig port and a 1 gig port. The modem is feeding the 2.5 gig port. Does this mean it will only provide 1 gig out using ethernet? If so could I use a 2.5 gig switch off the modem then feed the erro off the switch and still have controll

- Answer Hi Steve, Yes, the Eero Pro 6E has a 2.5Gbps WAN port and a 1Gbps LAN port. If your modem feeds the 2.5Gbps port, any wired connection from the Eero will be limited to 1Gbps. You could use a 2.5Gbps switch between the modem and Eero, but it may affect some Eero features and control. For full functionality, it's best to connect the modem directly to the Eero's 2.5Gbps port. Hope this helps!

QuestionDoes this have to be plugged into the Ziply modem. Can I plug it in upstairs? Ziply recommended for upstair where internet is slow. Modem is downstairs because that's where a CAT6 cable had to be run.

- Answer In order for eero to work there must be one eero (which will be the head/gateway eero) hardwired to your modem/internet source. If you wanted to use a really long ethernet cable that will work. However, running cables all over a house isn't always feasible. If you have two (or more) eero you will have the gateway one hardwired to the modem. The other eero will connect to the first one (either wired or wirelessly) and they will both broadcast the same wifi network for your devices to connect to.

- Answer As long as the AT&T (or any ISP) provides you with access to the internet via an ethernet port the eero should work fine with it. We have quite a few customers who use AT&T

- Answer Yes, but you will need access to the eero app,to add them, so they will work as a mesh system.

- Answer Yes but make sure the gateway is a Pro 6E. Any devices connected through your old nodes will be WiFi 5 and the new ones will be WiFi 6. Your mesh network will also have bottlenecks to lower speeds, so it would be recommended to use only new nodes for max output.

- Answer Hello. Thank you for your question. The eero Pro 6E 1-pack includes just one router unit, not a mesh point. This single unit can function as your main router when connected to your modem and can cover up to 2,000 sq ft. If you're looking to create a mesh network for larger spaces or better coverage, you would need to purchase additional eero units or consider the 2-pack or 3-pack systems instead. - Answer When I purchased the EERO routers I was told by Best Buy tech that these routers need to pair with one another and couldn’t have a conflicting router, another brand because it would interfere with them pairing. Therefore I purchased a modem by itself whereby I plugged one of the EERO router to it and then plugged in the other two upstairs. It was also important the two upstairs routers were plugged in away from other electronic devices. (So not near tv, etc.)
