“What if my router switches automatically between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz depending on how far you are from the router and the printer is near the router so it will use 5 GHz. I can't choose which one to use. Am i going to need to return this printer?”

If it's a Nighthawk router, get the Nighthawk app on your smartphone, go to wifi settings, and make sure Smart connect is turned on. I think that should help.
