From what I researched about this printer is yes it has a built-in self cleaning cycle. It features an automatic maintenance process when powered on or after periods of inactivity, but you can also manually trigger the deep cleaning and flushing cycles through the printer menu. But what I do is just print something small once a week just to keep it active. I hope this helps a bit. I only had this printer for maybe a month now, so it's still very new to me.
