“I want to print gallery grade black and white photos only. What ink cartridges are required to do this and will the printer operate in the absence of the other ink cartridges? I have an Epson 1430 set up for color; want to print from scanned film.”

Hello Rudy. When printing black and white photos, you can try selecting the Black/Grayscale option from the print settings. The printer requires all six Ink Cartridges to operate. Regards, Kevin - The Epson Team.
