“Will the unit Scan and Copy even if I remove all the ink cartridges (i.e. put the caps on to prevent drying out and clogging and avoid wasting ink)? I would then print from the Mac Desktop with my laser printer.”

don't know, never tried it that way. it properly will not copy without ink anyway, copy require to print with ink, you know! if you wanted scan only, just buy a scanner!!! hope this help.
