I asked that, too. They are marked "i" for initial, but Epson told me they are regular capacity. I can tell you that after set up and quite a few documents and photos printed, the ink levels are still above 50%. So they are at least of a reasonable capacity. But I accept that I will be buying expensive ink fequently.

Cartridges are full use so you will not need to order cartridges right away

Not sure if they are full use cartridges but we bought our XP-7100 on 2/22/2019 and have printed quite a bit of documents and it still shows over 1/2 of ink level on all cartridges.
