The computer prints photos nicely Changed the setting on the computer print display to photo and it gives you Standard and High for print quality as an option. I printed both and didn't see much of a change in quality they looked the same and the quality seemed as I would have expected in a photo print, but thought I would have seen more of a change between standard and high quality. The surprise and I would say a disappointment was when I checked photo paper on the computer and when I clicked print a warning display came up and said there was a paper mismatch between computer and the printer. I had to manually change the type of paper on the printer. Never had to do that with the HP, the computer shared the information and the printer knew the paper type change. Shows the cheaper quality of the Epson printer and was surprised for the 499.00 price tag.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This is able to print photos.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it is capable of printing photographs. It does a good job and the quality is about the same *depending on the paper type of going to a drug store or wallmart 1-hour photo printing. It does not have the capabilities to print borderless however it will leave a 2.9mm border around the edges. Make sure you select the correct photo paper with the settings you want to print on for better DPI optimization. For printing better photos I would suggest the less expensive Epson Photo Printer Artisan 1430 or the semi professional SureColor p400 to the Professional SureColor P600.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The printer specifications listed in the Best Buy specs say that it is NOT intended for printing photographs. However, this does not mean that you cannot print them using this printer. It only means that the quality achieved is not what Epson considers professional photo print quality. If you are printing small sized prints and are not overly particular about the depth, brilliance, and spectrum range of the finished photo, then this one will produce acceptable pictures at a greatly reduced ink cost. It will give you a four color spectrum at a maximum of 1200 x 4800 dpi (Which for general printing and even many photos is not too bad). In smaller prints the difference in anything over 600 x 600 dpi will be barely perceptible. One other answer posted here suggests they saw no difference between quality settings on this model. That would be correct without a larger sized print or the use of a magnifying glass. On the other hand, if you are looking for a better range of depth using various shades of black and variations of cyan and magenta that can't be reproduced with simple 4 ink blends, then check out one of Epson's photographic printers (or other photo printer brands Best Buy carries). The dpi (some are 6400 x 6400 or more) will astound you even in large size prints and posters; and the colors will dazzle with 8 or more colors for the blending palate. The price of such printers and the increased size and thickness of materials on which they can print may surprise you too. Many cost less than this Super Tanker Envy model; which is also the catch. You are back to ink cartridges rather than bottles of more cost effective ink. The choice is yours; quality versus the price of the ink. With this printer you can have both if your personal photo standards or the sizes you print are not an issue. It all boils down to how you (and Epson) define "Photographic Quality Printer." It also depends on your primary intended reason for buying this printer. Best Buy carries less expensive versions of the Epson Envy series. You may want to consider buying one of those and a more photo specific printer too. Or this one and a photo version printer if you can afford them both.
