Yes it has auto lock. No it will not sense if the door is closed. If the door is open, the auto lock will engage at the time interval set in the app.

Installed mine last week. Having an issue with auto lock working at the default 3 minute timer whether the door is open or closed. Tech support said the autolock feature is designed to operate whether the door is open or closed. They said only operating when open would impact battery life. We open front door for light (Western facing door) and so the dog can see the neighborhood. Door looks stupid wide open with deadbolt out.

Otherwise its a great lock, just have to turn autolock off

It has auto lock. It will not autolock when door is open.

Yes it has auto-lock. I can be set up to auto-lock after a certain amount of time (i.e. 1 second, 3 seconds, etc.), or it can be set up to auto lock on a schedule (i.e. after 10pm auto lock on). The lock does know when the door is open and will not auto lock when it is open. It's highly accurate.

By the way it's made, it senses when the door is open and will not auto lock if open. Check youtube for reviews, guy named brett.
