That depends on whether you have the camera running off a constant power source. Most people have this running off a power source that cuts off when you turn off the ignition. In that case, no, the camera will not have power when the ignition is not running. However, it is possible to run this off a power source that supplied constant power. You will need to determine the impact that has on your car's battery life.

The device also has an accident detection feature where if it experiences enough G-Force it will save the last clip, however if there was not enough G-Force you can manually save the last clip. {CW}
