Yes... Not for directions some where but to show you your speed and where an incident has happened.

No, the gps only tracks your speed and displays your route on a map after you review the footage.

It has GPS positioning, but does not display it on a map like a true GPS unit does. The GPS data is embedded onto the video, but there is no mapping.

No it tells the current latitude and longitude of the vehicle and is embedded with the video. You can't navigate with it like a GPS.
