• Garmin's Dash Cam devices have a Display Timeout setting which will automatically dim the display of the device after a period of inactivity. The device will continue to record video even while the screen is dimmed (indicated by a red light), provided the microSD card remains in the device and the device remains powered on. • The dashcam should always be recording except when the 12v power source is turned off or one manually turns off the cam power button. There is an option in SETTINGS for how long the cam will record after loosing power. Many cars automatically switch OFF the 12v power supply when the ignition is switched off.
