“Is the problem where you have to purchase every time maps outside of North America been fixed? For example, going to England and purchased UK-Ireland maps, now rather than being able to update those maps have to repurchase again at full price ($99).”

All devices will have included updates for pre installed mapping. Any additional mapping needs to be purchased and does not come with free updates.
