“I'm wondering if this could connect to my phone and show me a live view? Or does this only record when something is happening. My thought is I can mount it in the rear of my car and use my phone as a backup camera screen when needed.”

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Short answer is yes, you can watch the live feed of this camera. However, there are likely better options on the market for reverse cameras. It takes a bit of menu searching to find the live feed and there is a pronounced lag between what is happening in reality and what you see on screen. Also, the cords are designed to be long enough to fit the camera on the windshield, not all the way to the back of the car. Depending on the length of your vehicle, you could have some problems with that. I would recommend looking elsewhere for a dedicated reverse camera.
