Can you buy this unit here in the USA, update the maps to UK maps, take it to the UK and use it, and then return back to the USA and use the USA maps again? if yes, would the UK maps be available for installation at no charge? If the 2797 can't do this, is there one that can?”

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes! The nuvi 2597LMT is compatible with Garmin's City Navigator mapping, which includes UK among many other countries. You may purchase maps on preloaded microSD card or as a digital download. Best Buy sells the City Navigator UK & Ireland card on their website. When you use the memory card OR the digital download, you will have access to both the original preloaded maps for North America as well as the UK/Ireland maps provided by the card/download. There's no need to remove one mapset prior to using the other. Additional maps do come at an additional cost due to licensing fees and royalties. Thank you for your interest!
