As no one has answered this question yet and it was showing up under the vivofit section. I haven't had any issues with the band not staying clasped, also they have a slider that goes over the clasp, for want of a better word, to better secure it.

A:AnswerIt does not require a smart phone. You do have to have a computer to do a one time setup and then after that you do not need a computer either. You can read your daily steps via the tracker. If you want to go back and look at past steps you would need a computer or something with internet capability.
A:AnswerThis band is the first generation of vivofit, and there is no sound or vibration mode for alarm or reminder. It will display a red line when you haven't walked for an hour and the line will keep extending until you made several steps.
