Can the Garmin vivofit just be used as a watch only null

Sure can,, date and times syncs with my Android phone.. When I traveled between time zones it automatically adjusts..

Yes, the OLED display normally displays the time. You can press the button once to display the Date. If you happen to travel between timezones, just make sure your phones clock has adjusted to the timezone, then sync your vivofit and the time will update.
