“After the washer cycle ends, the tub will start getting water in, until there are a couple of gallons. The other day, the machine even seems to have started by itself to empty out the water left inside. Not sure if it has to do with my water drain set up.”

This is my third replacement of this washer. Never experienced this particular problem.

With Top Load washers, it is not uncommon to have a small amount of water at the bottom of the wash basket after a load is complete. The amount of water is typically a 1/2 cup of water or less, and is considered normal. This will occur when water becomes trapped in the fill nozzle (fill tube) at the top of the wash basket after the water shuts off after filling. Often the nozzle doesn't immediately drain all of the remaining water, so after some time (even a few hours later), the water tension holding in the water breaks and the last amount of water is released or sprayed from the fill nozzle. It is similar to the small spurt or burst of water that sometimes comes out of a bathroom shower head after the water is turned off. If there is more than a 1/2 cup of water in the bottom of the tub, service may be required.
