Q: QuestionMy ceiling is just shy of 7 feet - will this fan work with that? If not, would any other model work?

The lowest ceiling this range hood can accommodate for is 7' 4" and we apologize for any frustration or inconvenience this may cause. Q: QuestionCan we install it over a center gas range? Or will this work only when installed against a wall.

• A:Answer Hi there - We're so glad you reached out to us about this and we're happy to offer guidance about which range hood will fit your space. This model (JVW5301SJSS) will not adjust to fit a ceiling below 7' 3"; so since your ceilings are 7', this range hood will not fit in your space. In this case, a custom insert vent hood might be a good alternative, such as UVC9300SLSS. It still requires a minimum 24" of space above the cooktop, but there aren't any ceiling-height limitations. It's also important to note that the custom cabinet internal height must be 18-1/2" minimum for vertical venting and 29" minimum for recirculation. Pages 10 through 13 of the installation instructions has detailed information about the installation preparation for this custom hood: https://files.bbystatic.com/%2FRdm%2FtAzAY2hQpSNfQeQaw%3D%3D/3E4DA4A4-4450-47F8-952C-FCE93F203760.pdf. We encourage you to review that information to discern if it will work in your space. • A:Answer Hello - Thanks for reaching out! To reach a 10' ceiling, you would use a JXDC72 extension kit and the unit would need to be installed at 36"-38". We're sorry, however, we don't have an extension for ceilings that are above 10 ft. and unfortunately, it's not possible to couple multiple duct covers together. Custom fabrication will be required for heights beyond our maximum of 10 ft. Thanks for checking with us! - Sharon@GEA

Q: QuestionI have a 9 foot ceiling and keep getting different answers as to the duct covers. I was told I would have to purchase an extension kit, part number UXDC72FJDS. However, previous questions on this page, answered by GE state the the unit fits 7-4" to 9".

• A:Answer Hi - We genuinely apologize for any confusion we may have inadvertently created regarding the this beautiful vent hood and included duct covers. The duct covers included with the unit can be adjusted for ceilings between 7 3/4" - 9" depending on the distance between the bottom of the hood and the cooktop. • A:Answer Hello. We do not recommend reducing the duct pipe from 6" down to 4" as it was not tested and approved. This hood is designed to be vented vertically through the ceiling and using 6" round duct. Hope this helps your installation. Geoff@GEA

Q: QuestionHi there, I watched the install video and I’m wondering how high the two pieces of the went cover are. If I don’t want to have any break in the vent and only want one piece how tall is the first piece so I wouldn’t have to use the second piece.

We found that the lower cover is 13" and the upper cover can add anywhere from up to 4-3/8" to 11 7/16". The part we believe you're referring to measures 13". Page 3, in the Advance Planning section, of the installation instruction talks about the type and size of ducting that you need to use.
