Hello and thank you for the interest in this new washer. This model, installed with the matching electric dryer GFD55ESSNWW, would be a total of 56" as both are 28" wide. There is not a required clearance for the sides of the units so the fit may be tight, but as long as you have at least 56", the units will fit. Let us know if you have any more questions. - John@GEA
