We had a company install a new thermostat in our more than 100 year old house and they mounted a remote unit on the furnace which is on the 3rd floor and the thermostat is on the actual 2nd floor. Can this or any smart thermostat be set up this way? null

If it’s a furnace, the hot air usually rises. Having the furnace in the upper floor from your thermostat isn’t a good idea. My input is no.
