You can do same if you know exactly what your doing but you will loose the feature of this wire being weatherproof. Also, this wire comes in 10m length too before going DIY and slicing the cable to extend same, so check that out too if you are looking for a specific length. They also make a 10M cable. I would not recommend doing that to a 4-conductor round wire. If you want to butcher a wire, use the short USB charging cable that comes with the camera.
