In Ontario, if you have done some change to your place after 2015 with a building permit it will not pass Ontario Fire code as it need a strobe light. If you just want to replace an existing one without strobe, you are good to go as long as you don't need a building permit.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I bet if you contact Nest directly they can help answer your question. I have contacted them previously and they are a HUGE help. If they don't know they will usually put you on hold and find someone who does.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I definitely can not answer building code requirements regarding the Nest Protect. You might have have to notify Nest directly to accertain building code lighting requirements for your country. However, I can say that the light resembles a blue in color night light circular in shape The light is not bright or overwhelming, but its just enough to illuminate your path when the setting is selected to high. The Nest protect has three setting levels, low, medium, and high.
