“How would I get my contacts and pictures transferred from my phone that I have now to this phone, would it be by using the same SIM card and SD card that I'm using now? Can I use the SIM card from the the phone that I have now for this phone?”

If you're contacts and photos are backed up with Google it's done automatically... If not just plug in the supplied cable from the old phone to the new phone to transfer everything.
