As long as you get a cover made to fit the phone, that would work. I found a simple, but very nice one at Best Buy when I ordered the phone. Second question is a bit perplexing. If you mean do you have to set up a fingerprint recognition, it's probably a good idea, but optional. You can also do a pattern. No one wants to leave a phone laying around - even for a minute - that does not have some sort of secure entry protocol.
