A:AnswerNot really. I bought mine from Best Buy earlier this year and had it working for 3 months, then the SIM card quit working. Google repaired the phone but it didn't work on data. They sent me a new phone but the new one only works on voice and text not data. I tried updating APN settings through Tracfone and contacting customer service (which with Tracfone has never been a strong point) but have yet to be able to use data with this network. My advice is to buy a phone through the carrier as that is the only sure guarantee that a phone will work with a carrier. I ended up buying a phone through Tracfone and that one works fine. So far the only luck I've had with an new unlocked phone was with postpaid Verizon.

It's unlocked just as long as you do not activate the phone over at Best buy while making the purchase. You will not get the discount they offer for activation but that just means you still get to activate your phone anywhere at any time. But if you let Best buy do it. It becomes carrier locked
