• I have seen portable A/C's set up the way you are talking about in resort guest rooms. The hose was connected to something that resembled a dryer duct/vent that went through the wall to the outside. The hose on this model is for air only, the water is contained in the unit. I have used mine for over a month and haven't had to manually empty it yet.

• it needs a secure exhaust port. It makes heat and needs to unload it outside. if you are comfortable designing and building one then YES. it will work. get to drilling..

• You are only required to have spot for the vent tube. Cutting a hole in your wall is an option but it needs to be large enough for the vent. The water drain is require if you use the dehumidifier option.

• Yes mostly, however, a sliding door will work or one could build a vent like that for a clothes dryer.

• Yes, you could bore a hole into the wall. The requirement it to get the hot air (i.e., the exhausting air) out of the room you're cooling.

• If you have a horizontal slide window, you slip a panel that is about 8 inches wide into the window groove. It's easy and simple to install, just to let out the exhaust heat.

• Window would obviously be easier. But I've seen someone rig a hole in the wall and worked just the same. You may want to look into ductless air conditioners.
