Got a great sale on this 700 sq ft AC. Temperature in the house was brutal when weather was in high 80's low 90's. Since making this purchase the house feels so, much more comfortable. Put a fan in front and it just about reaches from a medium size dining room to the living room. Also, been a couple weeks and haven't had to drain the water yet. Great purchase!!

Purchased the Honeywell A/C right before the heat hit and boy are we glad. Works well in the living room but takes much longer because of the size and ceiling height. The portability is great because it rolls really easily. We rolled it in the bedroom and got a blast of cold air right away. Worked well. It's loud but not obnoxiously loud. Easy to set up. The blue pins that go in the adjusters are a bit annoying because they slip out rather easily but not a big issue. Great unit, I would buy it again.

Good Enough in a Category That's SubPar at Best

I did an enormous amount of research before deciding which BRAND of portable ACs to consider (a factor of price, availability, and overall customer ratings), but what I failed to consider is the category as a whole. And by that I mean: Should I buy a portable AC at all? Let me save you the trouble: If you own your home and can afford it, have central AC installed. If either the cost is prohibitive or you do not own, buy a window unit if your windows are standard windows and not (as I have) non-standard (e.g., french windows, oversized windows, stained glass windows, etc). If you do have non-standard windows (or standard windows for that matter) and can afford the cost (and the building owner approves), by all means, go with a split system. If all else fails and you're melting just reading this review, then (unfortunately) a portable AC is for you. Now that you've decided that a portable AC is what you have to have, the choices get entirely easy or impossibly difficult to discern so here's some advice. There's no good reason to pay for a unit on the high end of the cost scale because they all seem to do (or not do) exactly the same thing. II'd say, based on my purchase, the $500 range is about middle of the road (though who knows, some of the ultra low cost units may be just as good). When I started my research, I wanted something quiet and while some use the word "whisper" in their name, forget it. Save a decibel or two, they all fall into the same range which is from sort of forgotten about to boy my ears are numb. They produce about as much noise as a window unit. Another factor important to me (and for all you eco-conscious buyers out there note especially), "eco-friendly". To my initial surprise, these units are abound but that term comes to mean that they use a particular coolant to cool the air which as it turns out is the only coolant that is approved for use in these units in the U.S. In other words, they're all the same. Though they'll consume different amounts of electricity in direct proportion to the BTU rating where higher is cooler is less eco-friendly, so the hotter you're willing to be the more eco-friendly you are! Congrats, you win. You're better than I am. Another thing is the misconception of BTU and covering a particular square footage. Now, you'll get all sorts of informed opinions about this. Here are my two favorites: (1) in calculating the square footage of the area to be air conditioned, air will pass over an opening of less than 32 inches and can be treated as if it is a solid wall because circulating air will "skip" areas of this width whereas any room that is connected to the room to be cooled with an opening of more than 32 inches should be counted in the total square footage to be cooled (got that? read on, it doesn't matter) and (2) the BTU rating is a national average, but you should adjust for local conditions (e.g., average temperatures in your area, whether its urban or rural, the humidity, etc.) which for the Los Angeles area is 1.5 or 15% less adjusted BTUs than as labeled. meaning that a unit with 10,0000 BTU rating used in the Los Angeles area should be considered a 8,5000 BTU rating (1.5 factor = 15%; 100% = 15% = 85%; 85% of 10,000 BTU = 8,500 adjusted BTU) (i have no idea if this is true, but again, read on. it doesn't matter). Forget all that: These units are intended to cool a room or two provided that the rooms are roughly adjacent to one another, can be closed off from the rest of your house, and are not a kitchen. The air won't circulate down a hall, around a corner from your living room to your bedroom to keep you cool day and night. It ain't gonna happen. Pick a room to keep cool and live in it. All that brings us to this: as long as your staying in the $500 range, what's your favorite color? That's the only distinction I have been able to find. Incidentally, your choices are white, gray, black, silver, bronze, and some navy and red. Oh, and wait for a sale. Trust me, at least you can hold on to that thought of saving 10% when you're boiling mad that you're ... well, still boiling. Now I have to make a decision: Do I buy a second unit for my bedroom hoping that the living room unit will meet it in the middle and I'll cool down at last? I like silver.

It is easy to set up,etc. The only complaint is that it is noisy. This is our first portable conditioner. It helped a lot in our heat wave of 90 plus degrees for 19 days; then the low 80's and high seventies. If only it could run quieter...

I have this one in the living room and an LG in the bedroom. The Honeywell is quieter and keeps my living room in the 70's when it's over 100 outside. If you have a lot of humidity, you'll need to empty the water tank on occasion. If it's dry, the evaporation process will do the job. Nice product.

great portable AC. cools the whole room no problem & room has a vaulted ceiling in part of the room as well. to be fair we do have a tower fan next to it catching the output air & helping direct all of it's coolness across the room better. but it does what we needed it to do no problem & it is very economical on the power consumption. it has helped buy us some time on buying a second outside AC unit for that portion of our home & helps keep our main unit from having too much extra load. not very loud either. once you are a few feet away from it you barely notice it. in fact I think the tower fan we have giving it an assist, is louder then this AC unit & the tower fan is suppose to be a low noise model too. not a space hog on size either. it has nice features with the thermostat just set it & forget it. kicks on & off by itself to keep the room temperature just right. really only have to turn it off to clean the exterior filter screen or empty the drip pan. on AC mode the drip pan rarely fills up. I think that is only an issue on the dehumidifier mode, which we never use. cool AC blasting out is all we use this for. it definitely gives us what we needed & we are satisfied with the purchase.

Cools the room to 78-80 & it is a handsome item...

I wish it cooled the room more as it is 150 square foot room and it is a 14.000btu unit! That said, I need to shut out some areas in window that allow air in and out as these are jalousie windows and are hard to block. It cools the room to 78-80 and is a handsome item, but you have to move like a snake around it as it is an extremely sensitive item. I thought the exaggerated amount of BTUS for such a small room would compensate. I have M.S. and this room did not have any A.C. something is better than the overwhelming Miami Heat at full force and I don't mean the basketball team... Would recommend as to lowering the room temperature not cold like a regular A.C./Projected FPL bill is double the normal amount so far we will see.

We installed this in our art studio that has heat but no AC. It works great. Cools the high ceiling room (with two skylights and two large windows) very well. It was easy to install. The only issue is that the window fit could be better. We bought duck tape to seal the fitting. Also--and this is a general comment more than a negative on this particular Honeywell--I am always looking for a quiet running machine. This is quiet for an AC but I wish the manufacturers would come out with a whisper quiet one--perhaps one with a super low fan setting.

I love my Honeywell portable Air conditioner. Keeps my huge living room cold! The price was incredible...I have yet to find another 14,000btu anywhere else. I paid $467.50 with tax! I used a 20% off coupon I found online by googling best buy coupon codes. If I had to find something to complain about, it could be quieter. But other than that, I have no complaints!

I work night shift and sleep during the day. I've put off buying an A/C, but decided to go for it this year. This A/C works very well and cools down my bedroom quickly. I bought a model with a bigger square footage rating than the size of my bedroom based on reading other reviews, and it is working great. I wish I'd have gotten one years ago! Highly recommended. Easy window setup, but had to modify slightly because my window is taller than the included pieces. Simply cut a 2x6 to length, painted it white, and it fits snugly in the window, so I can open and close the window and the a/c hose and 2x6 stay in place.

This was so easy to install and looked great. This was to replace a heavy window unit that was 12,000 btu. I was so happy not to have to have someone put it in a window for me but when it came to cooling, the portable just did not do the job. I ended up exchanging it for another window unit. Great idea and design...too bad it didn't cool my space.

This is perfect when you don’t want a heavy window air conditioner. It has wheels so you can move it from room to room if desired. It works well but doesn’t reach the kitchen as I thought it would but it does help. I think it’s because there’s too many corners to get to the kitchen. I also have 10 foot ceilings. But overall I like the unit.

After originally purchasing an LG unit that came in damaged, management at the Signal Hill Best Buy talked me into getting this unit, specifically because I would not have to drain as often. I love this feature, you still have to drain it, but not as often. I have been using it every day for about a month and have not had to drain it. My old unit would have to be drained a few times a week. The price is ok, I got a great deal on it. Cooling is decent, but once it reaches temp, the unit does not turn off, just the condenser, the fan still runs. I wish it cooled a larger area, 500 SF for 14K BTU is not that great.

Great efficient unit for portable ac category

At first I really wanted a window mounted ac unit due to the condenser being outside of the room. I used this for a 1 bed room 1 bath unit about 500 square feet along with two 18 inch oscillating fans to circulate air throughout the apartment. I must say to make this unit efficient you must seal all windows and door seals along with any other air escape like stove fan. Also used thermal reflective window foam to insulate all the windows that get direct sunlight. The unit really dehumidifies that room to a great extent. Ac cooling capability is excellent. Average nights get up to 80-85 degrees. I like to bring the temp down to 75 degrees which the unit does well. The exhaust hose is hooked up with the window kit and the intake side takes the air inside the unit and recirculates the air while cooling it. The oscillating fans help distribute the cooler air throughout the room. If you don't have and fans to circulate the air then I highly recommend you get some. Otherwise the power of the ac unit itself will not circulate the cooled air thought the area you want cooled. Again great unit if worked properly. Would also recommend draining the unit everyday due to condensation and have now restrictions like screens on the window with exhaust hooked up to.

This was my third unit ordered. The first two I had sent to my house but were damaged in shipping. Apparently Honeywell doesn’t understand how items are shipped and the required amount of packing. We finally had the item shipped to store and inspected it when I picked it up. Only used it one night and it seems to fit my requirements.
