The Crucial Memory web site lists the max memory of this laptop as 12 gig. This laptop has two SO-DIMM slots, and only one is used. So you can either add a SO-DIMM to the second slot ( 4gig, same size as the first one) or replace what's in there now with two 6 gig SO-DIMM modules. However, Crucial only shows 4 and 8 gig modules available, so 8 gig is the practical limit.
