I have the same issue. The keys can be read in the dark, but with minimal lighting the keys are difficult to read. Seem like the key lights are not in contrast enough with the lights to make reading easy. I have not been able to find anything that works, other than to turn off the lights in the room. My prior laptop is HP as well and the backlights really did help in all lighting situations. I think this is a design issue from HP. Engineers are not checking out the key visibility issue in enough lighting situations.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Depending on the ambient light, you may want to turn off the back lighting on the keys. They then show up as dark letters and numbers instead of light which may blend in with the ambient light...
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.One possible option is to look for keyboard stickers or keyboard skins. Another option is to look at the keyboards offered at Best Buy and see if one would work for you. You can plug that keyboard into the laptop.
