“Is there a setting in printer properties where I can adjust the ink to lighter and darker?”

Draft is the lowest setting and it prints exceptionally well for documents on that setting. uses almost no ink. I've printed over 250 pages and have almost 1/2 black left.

Use the printer's touch screen. touch "copy" then touch settings "gear" icon, you will see options screen for two sided and paper size, use finger to push scroll list up till you see "lighter-darker". dot is in middle at "normal". touch dot and slide to other setting. there is only one darker or lighter position - no slide or inbetween setting. for that you need to access device settings in computer of HP print manager.
