“The specs from the HP website show the OfficeJet Pro 7740's maximum scan size through the ADF to be 8.27 x 11.69 in for two-sided (Duplex) scanning. Is this correct? So, I would not be able to duplex scan standard Letter (8.5 x 11) size sheets?”

Sorry about that, it is a little confusing. This printer accepts pages up to legal size through the ADF and does single-pass duplex scanning. Since it doesn't require two passes for duplex scanning, the media size specs are the same for both single-sided and double-sided scanning. Somebody must have entered specs for the wrong printer.
