Powerful printer
||Posted .I purchased the HP Officejet Pro 7740 and received it 2 days ago. I love it since it is a great improvement from the officejet 4650 I was using. It is humongous compared to my old one but still not that heavy. The setup was so easy that I completed in less than a minute including the wireless connection. So far I find it very fast, reliable and I expect the ink cartridges to last more since they are all XL type. The quality of the printouts are even much better than a laser printer. I read so many reviews before buying it and found the negative ones not true. This is a very powerful printer that cover printouts from an envelope size to 11x17 paper. Really I recommend it to quality seekers.

HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wireless All-In-One
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Bought this in late July for home based business. Does everything I have needed up to this point. Relatively easy to set up, works well with my WiFi so I can actually print something from my cell phone which is very convenient. Scanning functions are many so I'm still learning to use them, ADF works perfectly, no jams or misfeeds. Yes, its a copier, too. All three sizes operate as designed. No jams or misfeeds there either. Print product is readable and sharp. Haven't really tried to print photos so the jury is still out on that aspect, but don't expect any less than the best from this unit. Many possible uses that still require time to give a true evaluation of the product but so far its a win-win, so, I give it 4 out of 5 stars. Worth the price.

Good printer but has a few quirks
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This replaces an 11 year old HP all-in-one and for the most part it is a much better printer. Upgraded from 8x10 to 11x17 size max scan size. Because of the larger scan size and 2 trays this is a beast bigger and heavier than older machine. PROS 1. 2 paper trays & auto select picks letter or legal correctly when size is specified 2. Scans duplex without re-feeding paper through the machine- 1 pass gets both sides. 3. Duplex scans legal size documents (old printer couldn't) 4. Scan and print quality very good 5. Prints faster than old machine w/text only very fast. 6. Setup was fast and easy all computers in household recognized and set up drivers very fast. 7. Paper trays will accommodate up to 11x17" paper 8. Software for scanning provides more flexibility in selecting scan options than old software and works really well. 9. Used several types and sizes of paper and so far no jams feeds everything well. CONS 1. Size of the display it is tiny about half the size of the old printer. Makes it very hard to see what is on the screen and with big fingers like I have getting the right item pressed especially on the top of the display is almost impossible. Using a stylus for this thankfully don't use display often. 2. Document handler only holds 35 sheets old one held 50. 3. Tray where scanned documents goes after being scanned is WAY TO SHORT. HP reduced the height of this to save space since the unit is so big. so it is just under 1" and the papers don't stick out very far from the document feeder above. This makes it difficult to pull the papers out after they are scanned. 4. Software for scanning and printing are buried in a master program. Must start main program which takes a while to load, then select for scan wait for that to load then select scan from there so 3 mouse clicks to get to scan a document. Old software allowed that program to be started directly from desktop icon. Way faster. Haven't been able to find a way to do that with this software. 5. Smart chip in ink cartridges and HP constantly auto updating firmware to make use of 3rd party cartridges very difficult. Checking several ink suppliers looks like you can work around that a bit. I know ink is where the profit is but still ink is waaaay to expensive.

Love this printer!
||Posted .I've owned this printer for a little over a year, and it's been smooth sailing all along. I regularly print single and double-sided b&w or color sheets in 8-1/2 x 11 and 8-1/2 x 14 for some volunteer work that I do. I believe we've printed over 1500 pages this last year. Ink cost seems average. Print Quality is exceptional for office printing (haven't done photos). I actually always print in draft mode and the quality is good enough to use as a final print (for color charts, maps, and other office docs). Know that the printer is large in size. I can't fault it for being so large when it has the ability to print 11x17, but just in case anyone thought they could just clear a corner on their small desk to put this printer - it is better off on it's own piece of furniture. We have it on a little 2'x2' platform and I believe it overhangs a little. One little annoyance is that I haven't figured out how to default the printer to auto-select by paper size, and I find it best to check the settings with every print I do (using Windows 10). I hope they fix this software/driver issue. I think the hardware is top quality.

HP Officejet 7740 review
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I recently purchased the HP Officejet Pro 7740 after my HP Officejet 7610 finally died. I needed a printer that could print 11x17 format and this one is terrific. The setup was so easy that I completed it in less than a minute using the wireless connection. I had reviewed the specs and was fully aware that the auto feeder does not scan 11x17 documents, but you can still scan them manually on the flat bed. One of the really nice features is that the printer has two drawers for holding different size paper, plus the ability to print on both sides. This printer is awesome and you can’t beat the price.

Solid so far
||Posted .I'v only had the printer a few weeks but no major complaints. I loaded the basic drivers instead of the "full" drivers because I've had too much trouble with HP's software in the past - case in point, I still haven't been able to completely remove my old printer drivers. The printer itself seems pretty solid. I only gave it four stars because the touch screen is more difficult to use than the console buttons my old 7500 printer had and I haven't yet been able to access a memory device mounted on the printer over the network (I could on my old 7500 using the basic drivers)

Q: QuestionDoes this printer have dual paper trays? One for 8.5"x11" and 11"x17"? Or do I have to continue to change out paper trays or buy an extra paper tray?
Asked by Jeffkeef.
- A:Answer Yes, this printer came with dual paper trays. I have loaded 8.5x11" paper in Tray 1 (upper tray) and 11"x17" paper in Tray 2 (bottom tray) and have printed documents from each tray. This is a great feature. My previous two HP wide-format printers had only one tray, which required me to change out the paper when I needed to print different paper sizes.

Q: QuestionI get ink cartridges from HP automatically when I replace in printer. Will this be possible with this printer
Asked by Marylou.
- A:Answer No, you cannot sign up for the HP Instant Ink with this printer. It is very misleading having HP Instant Ink listed in the replenish your ink options right under the add to cart button. HP Instant Ink does not even list this printer on their website for availability.

Q: QuestionTwo questions: 1) Is the LCD display easily visible if the printer isn't sitting at eye level and what are the dimensions of it? 2) Is there a separate photo paper tray? Guess that was three questions. Thank you
Asked by Lynne.
- A:Answer The display tilts up so you can see it from standing position if the printer is on a table, The display is about 3 inches across and 2 1/2 inches tall. There is no separate paper tray for photo paper. I was able to print 87 lb. card stock through tray 1 without any issues though if this helps.

Q: Questionprice of black ink, price of color ppm, cost of replacement cartridges
Asked by Kork.
- A:Answer For the X series or double ink the color and Black set up is about $100.00 for 3 color and 1 black cartridge. We use about $350.00 of ink a year -- but we print some 2,000+ plans at 11x17 and somewhere close to 5,000 pages at 8-1/2 x 11 not that expensive for the low volume ---

Q: QuestionDoes this printer scan both letter size and legal size paper from feeder?
Asked by Mejia777.
- A:Answer The scanner will accept 8.5" wide paper (both letter size and legal size) with the automatic feed on top. Also, paper up to B-size (11"x17") can be scanned by raising the cover and using the flat-bed scanner feature.
