I was wondering the same thing. Cnet.com has specs on both of these models. The only difference I can find is that the ae014dx has a privacy filter in the screen. -Jenn
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The AE014DX has the integrated HP Sure View privacy screen. Pressing the F1 key toggles the privacy screen on and off. The AE012DX does not have a privacy screen. Pressing the F1 key brings up a help menu. I tried this model and did not like the privacy screen because it narrows ideal viewing angles even when it is off (the IPS screen shifts brightness when viewed off-angle, hard to describe but I did not like it). I should have taken pictures when I still had the model! My apologies.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The added benefit of the privacy screen is that it also has a 120hz refresh rate, similar to the new iPad Pro. It'll make everything feel faster.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.AE014DX has the smaller faster SSD being NVMe worth the extra if you plan to upgrade in a few years to a bigger drive. performance overall should be a little snappier on read and write but will be hard to notice for most average users.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. One has a SSD SATA the other has SSD PCIe, the PCIe being a little smaller than standard SATA. Its only faster if it supports NVMe which is not clear from the Best Buys spec. they are not interchangeable. If you want cheap to upgrade Hard Drive go for SATA standard and if you want faster and future proof look for NVMe or research if the PCIe on this model is.
