I don't think you can add 1 TB with Existing 256 SSD. you can replace 256 with 1 TB SSD but you have to buy 1TB by your own and by some software to clone your existing OS and data to your 1TB. But I have another Lenovo Laptop from last 3 years and so far I used only 200 GB. That is why I bought this with 256 because I might not use whole 1 TB ever. I also have 1TB external drive for data backup.

you can only add 1tb or 2tb SSD Solid State Drive not the HHD, because the regular hard drive won't fit inside only SSD does.
