I don't think you can add 1 TB with Existing 256 SSD. you can replace 256 with 1 TB SSD but you have to buy 1TB by your own and by some software to clone your existing OS and data to your 1TB. But I have another Lenovo Laptop from last 3 years and so far I used only 200 GB. That is why I bought this with 256 because I might not use whole 1 TB ever. I also have 1TB external drive for data backup.
