Great price considering the specs... laptop is a little heavy based upon how super thin it is, but its packed with performance. It has a very sleek design, although I’m a little disappointed with how thick the bezel is around the screen. Overall, compared to other laptops with similar specs, this is a great deal for a sharp-looking, slim-design 2-in-laptop that doubles as a laptop and tablet, that works great with Windows 10 Table Mode and convenient for flights and travel.

I highly recommend this product it was an amazing purchase for somebody who wanted to get a new laptop for school plus still have enough processing speed to be able to run some games smoothly. Fully expect this project to last me several years before I'm going to need another upgrade also I did not review this before I purchased it however due to the expert advice of the Best Buy team member I was able to pick out something that was adequate for my needs and exceeded them for the price that I was willing to pay

After careful research, I chose the HP Spectre because of the price and hardware specs. The price seemed too good to be true. It has 4k resolution screen, 16GB of DDR4 memory chips, "5G" Wifi (802.11-AC), 3 USB 3.0 Ports, Thunderbolt 2 connection, full size HDMI port, intel i7 processor, etc. etc. All for about a thousand bucks. I bought this laptop from Best Buy, knowing that HP has a bad rep for selling defective products that break down prematurely. This wasn't the first HP product to fail on me, but after all the superficial blog + amateur reviews, I decided to buy this laptop. I assumed that HP must have improved their manufacturing over the years, but I was wrong. This laptop did not even last me 3 days. I ordered this from Best Buy online and picked it up on a Tues night. By Wednesday night, the laptop had been unusable. Luckily, my defective computer was bad right out the box, and did not fail months later, or just after the warranty expired. The first night I turned on the laptop, the audio did not work. Something was wrong with the corny "Bang & Olufson" audio software and hardware. Later on the night, the 4K screen was starting to go bad. The screen began to display static, (like the old school TVs), and began shutting off frequently. Eventually the whole screen died out. I searched online about these issues and discovered a giant underground scene of defective HP Spectre users that showed up on Google. Apparently there are thousands of unresolved forum posts of people pleading for fixes for their HP Spectres because these issues are apparently very common. During this search, I came across some professional computer reviews that I had not seen before,( PC Mag, Digital Trend, Computer World, etc,) all rank HP as one of the worst manufacturers, especially in consumer laptops. Its been documented by professional sources that HP has the highest failure rate in laptops. Despite what the Best Buy morons say. I had some middle aged sales man (like Euthyphro) insist that HP Spectre was the best thing ever. ... I highly doubt he ever owned one, or needed a CAD certified mobile workstation, to really know what is good in a laptop. Despite being one of the best selling brands of Laptops, HP is documented by professional computer journalists as the company w/ the highest failure rate. This is the reason why I chose to exchange my laptop w/ another brand. The laptop looked nice, and the screen looked great. That was about all there was for my laptop. I returned it on the third day, and got a Lenovo Yoga with the same specs. I do not recommend getting this cheap laptop. If you do get this laptop, be sure to spend $300-$400 bucks for extended warranty and ADC protection. Probably get an additional Geek Squad protection in case HP customer support sucks. When I was in High School, I had an HP laptop sent for diagnostics twice. One of those times took over 6 months... and I lived in Spring, TX about 3 mins from HP's factory. I got Accidental Damage Coverage from Lenovo for less than $25 a year for 3 years. I highly suggest to get some kind of insurance for these "convertible laptops", especially for a brand with terrible reputation like HP.

This laptop has a lot of high end features, an amazing display, and the best part is the solid chassis that is also super thin and light weight for a 15 inch laptop. I purchased the laptop mainly to be used as a linux workstation and Fedora 24 works out of the box. It was a simple process to shrink the main Windows partition and install Fedora 24 linux. The system now dual boots into either operating system and they both work great. The touchpad is outstanding. Most PC laptops have small square touchpads that are too sensitive to palms when typing which is disastrous when using mouse focus in linux. This touchpad is very large and sensitivity is just right. The display is simply amazing, beautiful. The HiDPI scaling works fantastic in Fedora and Windows 10 looks great as well. There are still several Windows system utilities that Microsoft needs to update because the scaling results in fonts that are a bit fuzzy. But the common tools that most people use look great. HP does not load these laptops up with bloatware, YEAH! The only software that might be desirable to remove is the McAfee anti-virus and the HP Support software. You can use Microsoft's Windows Defender for anti-virus, stick with McAfee, or try something else. The HP Support applications also seem redundant because Microsoft's updates take care of most drivers and updates the system may need. I did run into a problem where the HP Support Assistant was trying to install an older Intel WLAN driver because the Microsoft updates had installed a newer driver from the Windows updates. Rather than try to resolve the HP Support Assistant old driver issue I just removed the support assistant software and I'll stick with Microsoft updates. Overall I am impressed with this laptop, even Windows 10 looks and functions quite nice out of the box and I am a linux user.

I had been in the market for a hybrid for some months, and looked at various hybrids including the Lenovo Yoga 900, HP - Spectre x360, Microsoft Surface Book/ Surface pro and others. They were mainly 13 inches, and I wanted something with a larger screen. Then HP announced its 15 inch HP - Spectre x360. Perfect!! I purchased it as quickly as I could, and have been using it constantly ever since. The screen is awesome, i have stopped using my large external monitor. The keyboard is great, I have stopped using my external keyboard. The touchpad is very responsive. 16GB Ram helps with the amount of open tabs I usually keep in Google Chrome, which is a memory guzzler. The 256GB solid state drive is superfast, and the laptop boots up quickly, a fraction of the time of my previous HP 17" Envy. All in all, I am very happy with this laptop.

I have owned a number of Dells in the past. None have been without issues. My shopping around at various stores and also online brought me to Best Buy. I had read numerous reviews on many of the offered laptops, but the HP Spectre Series kept surfacing as a top pick for me. At Best Buy, I finally met a rep. that could offer me the time and information I needed to make an "informed decision" on choosing a laptop. When I learned that HP had moved all it's operations back to the states, I felt even more comfortable in buying this laptop. It has everything I could ever want in features. The look is right up there with Apple. I brought it home, and never looked back on my purchase over a month ago now. This thing rocks in so many ways. I love it! The best part is the price. I bought it on sale, and if you miss a sale, you get a little more time from Best Buy to price match elsewhere. Overall, my purchase, shopping experience, and now user experience is 5 star rated. Thank you HP for a great product, and thank you Best Buy for a wonderful shopping experience!

Yes, it's a pricy computer, however with all of the great features this impressive computer comes with its certainly worth the price! "You'll get what you pay for" rings true when it comes to tech. I love the fact that it has 16gigs of memory and that it comes with a solid state drive. The 2-1 touch screen is another cool feature I didn't think I would ever use, but I was wrong! By the way the tablet mode functions well, and is only a little awkward at first. Screen resolution is nice (4K) but it's not as "bright" as some of other computers. Battery life is pretty good, probably up there amongst the best in this area. The speakers are located on top either side of the keyboard, so it's loud! But I wasn't impressed too much with the sound qaulity until I tweeked the mixer which is in the settings. The track pad is great, and similar to a mac book pro. You can zoom in/out and scroll with your fingers as well. The only draw backs are: the internal storage on the ssd isn't impressive (256gigs), but with Microsoft one drive installed or using an external drive who cares. Microsoft Edge is the computers preferred browser, and it often creates problems using certain antispyware and other software. Not sure why. Download google chrome and your good! Anyways, I love my specter! I'm glad I made the investment!

I am extremely happy with this purchase, great display, loud speakers, clean & slick, only 5 LBS, great touch-screen, and extremely thin for what you get. There are 3 downsides which are that the battery could of been a lot better, but I guess it wouldn't be as thin then( only tend to get 6 hrs at most with moderate use). Also the anti-slip pads on the bottom of the computer could've been a different color because after a short time they tend to get grungy and it is impossible to clean off. The display bezels are also a bit big compared to what's out there

    Review from a college student

Pros Screen Resolution is excellent, Keyboard & Mouse-pad flow with the hands, keys have convenient back light feature, 2-1 flexibility is seamless, Speed is insanely fast during start up and while running, storage is more than enough for the average student Cons Speakers have low base, power button can be hard to find in a dark room, to power off the power button must be held for a solid 3 seconds which can get annoying, the bottom can get a little hot with heavy usage but nothing too intense, edges of the laptop itself are a bit sharp can be uncomfortable at times, since it's running on windows the app selection is very poor, and those that are available often do not work, best to stick to the internet when doing things. Overall this laptop is a great investment for if your looking for something that has a lot of storage and speed but maintains a slim design. For students I highly recommend. The battery life will go forever if just typing papers, but if streaming netflix happens constantly don't expect to watch more than 4-5 hours off a full battery. Lastly, I highly recommend to either purchase a protection plan with geek squad or a protective/hard laptop case to carry around in. The screen is very expensive if broken or cracked which can happen easily if the laptop is dropped too hard.

I have had two other laptops with 4K screens, and this one has the best screen, but you must like glossy screens and be able to deal with glare from your environment. My other 4K laptops can only last a few hours, and I can get a full business day of productivity in a single charge out of this one. The design is very sleek for a clean, professional look. Great keyboard and good trackpad. I did have to turn pinch to zoom off in the trackpad driver because that feature was too sensitive. Very fast and worked perfectly out of the box, but I did fully update drivers and Windows before using. Near perfect in my opinion. Highly recommended.

Best laptop I have ever purchased! Very fast, thin and lightweight. It's perfect for carrying around OR using at a desk. Battery life is outstanding, currently getting 10+ hours out of each charge. Touchscreen is very responsive. It's replacing my old 14 inch laptop and my tablet. Although it is a little large for a tablet, it still works very well.

Great buy, super fast, love it. I am disappointed to have to return the item since it was incapable of supporting the Samsung 29" ultra wide, uhd monitor I purchased to accompany it. The graphics card was unable to support this screen and made my purchase useless. I would recommend this item if your using it without any external monitor. Seems like for that much money you should be able to use any monitor you want.

When I bought this laptop I knew exactly what I wanted. I wanted a decent amount of RAM and an SSD hard drive. Nice graphics capability with a 15" screen. Not too heavy, or so thin you feel like it's going to break if you look at it. It's thin and lightweight but you don't feel like it will shatter if you touch it. The processor is fast (Intel I7), graphics are superb (4K) and sound quality is excellent (Bang & Olufsen). Battery life is fantastic at almost 9 hours of use. There is no optical drive so you would need to purchase an external drive if you wanted/needed one. The backlit keyboard is a bit annoying, if I'm honest. For some reason the keyboard stays lit until you shut the laptop off or manually shut off the backlight feature. Other laptops I have used will fade the keyboard backlight after a period of inactivity. This one doesn't do that. I'm not sure if there is a feature I'm missing or what, but I can't make the backlight fade after a few seconds of no keyboard activity. I'm impressed with the touch screen capabilities as well. If you didn't buy the stylus don't worry about it. Unless you have sausages for fingers you should be able to navigate with just a finger. In all, this is a very nice device indeed. Solid build quality, quiet operation and packed with nice features. I'm happy with my purchase.

I bought this laptop and it kept losing sound after going to the sleep mode right out of box. The updates didn't help, the drivers and everything was updated and it didn't help. I spoke with HP reps and they did everything they could on their end, all in vain. The power cord was weak, it kept slowly sliding out of its sucket, and I thought that was the design, the speakers were extremely low in the volume, you could barely hear them and I thought that was also how it was designed. I like the speed, incredible, I rendered a video with After Effects and the 24GB video was rendered in mere minutes, which amazed me, because this laptop doesn't have a dedicated graphics card and yet it works so fast. The stylus pen worked on this laptop, flawlessly, I was happy about that, but that sound issue kept bugging me since I had to restart the laptop to get the sound back, so it seemed like a software issue but I wasn't sure, so I brought it back and exchanged to another HP Spectre with exact same specs. The new one had the exact same sound issue, no sound after the sleep mode BUT the speakers are louder on this one, so the previous one was probably defective. The power cord stays on, it doesn't slowly slide out like on the previous one, so that wasn't designed that way like I thought. Overall I like this laptop, minus the minor defects on the previous one, it's really a hit and miss situation when you're buying one, you have to test everything out before the exchange period ends because as I've witnessed not all made equally, some have problems, Oh the power cord is extremely short but you can use a regular extension.
