I have had this freezer for over a month and it has never done that. It may be defective or a programming problem. I know you can set it up to an app on your phone for alerts if the door is left open or it stops working. Maybe there is a setting on the app that makes it “auto convert” to refrigerator. Sorry I can’t help.
