I took the headphone/speaker out on the TV itself and no matter what goes into your television you'll have 2 amplifier stages to boost the sound beyond your listening limits.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.My guess is the cord degradation to your dvd player is the issue (the one going from the dvd player to your tv). You're probably using a composite cord for that, which has lower audio capability than an optical cord for your soundbar. Without more info, this is all I have on the subject.

Different devices have different output gain (volume) Sounds like the DVD player you have has a low output volume coming into your Sound bar. If you have a different DVD player, maybe try that and see if it is different.
