I have the same issue as far as locking door shut not happy about that but I have read this washer isn't only one that has lock. Have to pause to open if cycle is on and we use the shorter cycle (takes an hour with regular wash cycle). Not a happy camper but was without washer for so long I don't even care anymore.

No, you cannot turn off the "lock" feature and you cannot manually set the duration of the cycles.
