Yes that’s correct. It’s just like having 4 more USB ports on your laptop. You can you use it for everything a USB port can do.

The hub gives you more ports, like a power strip gives you more outlets . The playback capability is between the files on your thumb drive and your computers ability to execute the file.

Yes you should, the main thing is that if your plugging into a USB 3.0 on your laptop it will do all you need.
