If your external hard drive power requirement is 5vdc @ 900mA and the USB 3.0 Travel Hub provides 5vdc at 500mA/port you will have issues to include damage to your external hard drive due to inadequate power. You have two requirements for electronic devices. Voltage and power. The hub provides the correct DC voltage for USB devices but the power is not enough to safely drive your external drive. You will need a powered hub that provides at least 900 mA to make this work. Below is an example of a powered USB hub.
