• I use it on my surface for the same reason. I plug in my soft IP phone dock, my cell for charging, even a dock for multiple screens. This dock is pretty awesome for the price.

• Hello Angelczech, this device is designed to convert a single 3.0 USB port into 4 3.0 USB ports therefore it won't be recognized by the 2.0 USB port of the computer. Omar S. - Insignia Support.
