This freezer sits about twelve feet from where I watch television. It is very quiet. I don't notice when it turns on or off unless I get up and go over to it and try to listen for a sound. It is quieter than my refrigerator. It doesn't distract me when I read my books or do stuff on my computer. My freezer is very quiet and yours should be quiet as well. Other than being very good at keeping stuff frozen solid, being very quiet is one of the things I really like about this freezer.

I agree with the responders that say it's a low hum. I find that it's not intrusive at all. I had one that was much louder.

Has very quiet hum I'm not used to it yet so it catches my attention but is not distracting at all
