QuestionIs the temperature setting coldest at 'MAX' or 'MIN'? I am wondering if it is max/min TEMP or max/min COLD?

- Answer Yes, Min is the Warmest and Max is the coldest. All I have to add is the fact that designing a setting like this is inane, user unfriendly, and counter-intuitive. The dial should be temperature: warm to cold, simple. Also my spinach froze and I'm upset.

- Answer No, This is a manual defrost. I have been a service tech on refrigeration for 20 years and in my opinion manual defrost freezers will keep your food from getting freezer burn and drying out better than frost free, only exception is if you vacuum pack your food. Note: If you want frost free, you have to purchase an upright freezer.

QuestionCan I put this freezer on carpet?I live in an apartment and have a very small kitchen. The apartment is carpeted, is it ok to place indoors on carpets?

- Answer No! Place it on a piece of plywood so that the ventilation will work. It has to have space between the bottom and the surface it sits on. Placing directly on carpet will cause the motor to over heat.

- Answer About 29" x 33". Add about 6" on each end for packing. Let freezer stand upright for at least 2 hours *before* you plug it in.

- Answer As with any appliance of this kind, external temperature is always a factor. The compressor will have to work harder and cycle more often, as the outside temperature rises. This is to be expected and the unit actually has a warning on the outside to that effect.

- Answer Hi there! After moving the freezer (or having it delivered) it is recommended to have it sit for about 24 hours before plugging it in and using it. -Brian Insignia Support

- Answer Exterior Dimensions (approx): It is 33.5 inches tall (from the floor to the top, with the lid closed). It is 28.75 inches wide (left to right). It is 20.5 inches deep (front to back, including the hinges on the back). Interior Dimensions (approx): It is 27 inches tall (inside bottom to top). It is 23.5 inches wide (inside left to right). It is 14.75 inches deep (inside front to back). At the bottom right hand side is a "shelf" that is 8.5 inches tall, 8 inches wide, and 14.75 inches deep (front to back). This "shelf" is actually the space taken up by the compressor underneath. The total usable inside volume ends up being around 5 cubic feet. I made these measurements on my freezer. For the external dimensions you should allow a little extra space at the back and on both left and right sides for proper air circulation. While the freezer is running the sides (on the outside) get warm. This is normal and air needs to circulate freely to dissipate this heat.

- Answer I went to the Conteiner store and found two stackable small plastics baskets with handles that fold down. They both are the same size so measure the interior on the main storage floor of this chest. It's great to have handles that you can easily pull up and take out a basket at a time.

- Answer I have to replace my current chest freezer because I have it in my garage, in Minnesota, and the cold temperatures killed the freezer (according to the appliance repairman who came out to tell me why the compressor was buzzing a few days ago). I was told that freezers cannot survive in our harsh climate in uninsulated garages or porches, so now I am in a mad dash to replace the freezer before I lose the $400 in groceries I JUST put in it two days ago. You are better off having it in a climate-controlled environment if possible.

- Answer Some people put a plastic cup of water in their freezer. When the water freezes they put a penny on top of the ice. That way if you ever find the penny in the ice you will know that the freezer went off, defrosted and came back on and the food inside is suspect. A thermometer is a good accessory and the freezer should stay around 30 degrees.
