As the refrigerant expands to absorb heat from the inside, it is then compressed and heated well above the surrounding temp, in order for the surrounding temp to absorb the temps gained from the inside. In the instance of this freezer, the instructions require about 6 inches of room around the freezer itself. That is to give room to dissipate the heat rejected to the outside, which is on the back of the freezer. Warm is normal and should be of no real concern. Just be sure there is enough room around the freezer for the heat to dissipate to. Sorry if this sounds somewhat technical, but it is as simple as I can make it, giving that I worked for over 30 years in the refrigeration and heating industry.
