“Will this work as a replacement for my AM antenna to my surround wound amplifier? It was a little plastic housing with to wires attached that was inserted into the back of then amplifier and the other end had a plastic circle with a plastic stand.”

It does. It's big in my opinion, but it will work. Nice clear sound too.
