Your tv has multiple ports and you have multiple cables... no need to run everything in and out of a single device. Connect each thing to your tv separately using appropriate cord. (check the back of the tv carefully, they often have ports in more than one spot) If you want to record cable tv using your VCR check the internet for more advanced tips and help... also check the back of your VCR/DVD player to make sure there it nothing there that needs to be changed (rarely, there is a tiny switch back there). Make sure you're using what you are trying to use with your remote (esp. with dvd/VCR it's often necessary each time to actually use the machine or remote to tell it which you're using ...it's stupid, but there you have it) Good luck!
