• A:Answer No. This adapter converts HDMI input (for example coming from an Apple TV device) into RCA jack output to plug into old tv's (for example: A Sony built in 2001). You need the similar adapter which converts RCA input into HDMI output. Looks the same; same price. Insignia model number NS-HZ330.

Q: QuestionIs there any reason why it would NOT work going from rca to hdmi? I have an old setup with vcr going into Philips TV. The rca ports on TV went out- this looks like it would work going from the vcr rca into this converter and into hdmi on tv

• A:Answer Hi. HDMI is purely digital, and RCA is analog. The adapter makes the conversion from Digital (zeroes and ones) to Analog (radio frequency) and NOT the other way around. Q: QuestionHas anyone experienced unusable audio conversion with this device? I have one such device plugged into the HDMI output of a cable converter, and it produces perfectly usable analog video, but the audio is nothing but unusable static.

• A:Answer For the benefit of those who might have this problem, it was not a cabling issue. The device to which this coverter had been connected was configured for Dolby Digital audio out through HDMI. Obviously, there is no Dolby Digital decoder in this device; consequently, changing the other device's output to plain, two-channel stereo solved this problem..

• A:Answer No. This is a HDMI TO RCA converter. The output (or TV) has to have RCA output components. Your output is HDMI for your 4k TV. You need a RCA TO HDMI converter. I'm sure Insignia has this converter as well.
