This does the job nicely, as long as it's actually what you want. If you're looking to connect newer, HDMI-based devices to an older TV, this is what you want. For example, this would let you connect a Nintendo Switch or a Roku to a bulky old TV from the 90s. For a product that is $40 it is very limited. It works fairly well but it depends on the device that it connects to. If the input device sends a picture resolution of 4K it has trouble downsizing, if it sends at 720p it can cause issues also. Up to 1080p is supported by the converter but the device you connect it to can have strange effects on the screen or edges. I wish that this device had S-video port. I also wish that it was bi-directional to support reversible connections. One other comment, it’s a very large adapter, it should be half the size and half the thickness to fit in smaller spaces. I hope the next revision will be usb-c powered.

I have an old 90s big screen tv with no HDMI capability. Ordered this online for curbside pickup and it was ready within the hour. Only waited about 3 minutes in the store parking lot. Took it home and installed in 2 minutes and now I can plug my phone or laptop into my hdmi adapter and plug that into this converter and instantly watch anything I can watch on my phone or streaming accounts on the tv! Just saved me hundreds on a new tv!!!! Excellent audio and video quality - really happy with this purchase.

Works exactly as advertised. Son is getting older and wanted a Roku for his room. This worked great for his 19” TV that only had 1 HDMI and 1 AV hook up ports.

I bought this in store. They told me that it would would work for what I needed it for, which was to convert an HDMI eARC output to RCA for a 70's receiver. This does not work for ARC/eARC, but the store associate told me that it would work. Now they will not accept the return because Best Buy only has a 15 day return policy. It's brand new in box and they could easily just sell it to someone else. Never shopping here again. Also terribly overpriced. Buying something that actually works on Amazon.

Connected Firestick to old tv. Had for 3 years. Not working now but kids may have dropped it. Don't know if work with Google Chromecast

This device only lasted ONE MONTH. It failed literally the exact day after the final return date. No wonder Best Buy doesn't allow returns on this after a month since that's the expiration date for this product. I used this RCA Converter to connect a Blu-ray player to an old tube TV in my guest bedroom. I really didn't like the product to begin with. When the Blu-ray player was off, it would display these jarring color stripes across the screen. But it worked (for one month), so I kept it. Now it only displays an unusable, warped, distorted image. No power surges. No change in how it was connected. The last day of returns, it worked fine. The next day, it was shot. After I noticed the problem, I connected it to other TVs and HDMI devices... no change. It's cooked. Don't buy this. Photo attached (see the rainbow-ish distortion).

Works great at connecting from HDMI to RCA ports. We have our directv plugged into our DVD VCR combo, so when we're not watching old movies the directv will work through the player so we don't have to change tv inputs. It gives a clear picture and works wonderfully. You just need to buy the RCA cord or HDMI cord separately and it has a plug-in you plug into any outlet. I highly recommend

Works well, easy to set up. Helped me convert an old SONY TV to streaming capable with a Fire stick. SONY picture on this old Plasma is too good to toss the TVn

I bought this HDMI to RCA Converter so that I could install NES video game consoles and other electronics that have an HDMI output. Worked great for my 2015 Honda Pilot Touring 4WD w/RES. Sound and picture is as expected. Yes, Amazon Fire TV does work through this device. Hulu works fine, picture and sound is okay for standard screen. Please know that you have to turn off the Dobly Digital Plus feature when using Netflix or sound is distorted. This device does get really warm when in use, so make sure its vented properly. Alexa choose James Brown "Mind Power" for me and it sounded pretty good. Cable management will be your greatest task. Use your phone as a hot spot for the network connection. Make sure you have plenty of data to spare.

At first I connected my Firestick to this converter and many shows' sound was all static. After talking to tech support for 1/2 hour and getting no help from them, I decided to check my TV's menu. The sound had been set to dolby sound and when I changed that back to analogue stereo, everything worked perfectly and no more static. The converter was cheap and before solving the sound problem, I was just going to throw it in the trash. Glad I didn't do that. Insignia needs to include in the directions, to not use Dolby sound.

I decided to get Roku Express because a channel that I watch regularly get interference on the cable. I needed this to connect the Roku's HDMI to my old CRT TV. It does the trick.

Please be aware that this adapter is ONE-WAY to connect an HDMI OUTPUT (e.g. newer laptop) to an RCA INPUT (old-school TV). The nonprofit organization I work for has a pretty old-school big screen TV and doesn't have the funds to upgrade, so I purchased this converter to connect newer laptops. It connected instantly without any tinkering with the laptop's Display settings (using a MacBook Pro with USB-C to HDMI adapter). Please note that this adapter requires DC power – it comes with a short USB power cable with a two-prong plug adapter. I fear easy breakage because the adapter is so lightweight. We've only used it once so far, though, so we'll see!

As a teacher this was needed as some aspects of the classroom update (laptops) and some do not (Smartboards). Everything is great when all we used was composite and VGA but then the new laptops come in (which is great) but only have USB-C and HDMI. This helps keep some connections working still. Also I am likely rating the value higher than normal because I was able to find an open box one.

Works as stated, only one directional per instructions. Could have used a couple RCA inputs. Personally think it’s over priced for what it is.
