The insignia converter will help here. And it’s pretty simple to set up. But keep in mind this device will send the signal to the tv at a low resolution. So don’t expect that beautiful picture you see on the tv in the stores. Also. Make sure you get the one with hdmi in and rca out.

However, you should consider purchasing a high-definition tv as the picture will not look as good on the tv he has currently. It will work but the purpose of blu ray is to have a HD picture. If you don't care about picture quality, you may want to just get a dvd player. You will still need an HDMI to RCA converter.
